Anand Bhatt Interview At The Indie Band Channel

.

01 - Artist Name & Location = Anand Bhatt

02 - How did the project come into existence? = I was born in Chicago as the younger child of two children from a mechanical engineer father and a schoolteacher mother.

I first got public media notice while still in high school after my friends & I choreographed a humorous dance to a song we wrote and recorded while wearing homemade outfits to make ourselves look like monkeys. The song, and the monkey dance, became a community favorite and eventually landed us on Chicago radio.

I've also been lucky enough to get my start as the frontman for celebrated heavy rock group Anand Clique. After graduating high school, I went to the University of Illinois at Chicago for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. It was there I met other bandmates.

To support myself as a teenager until after grad school, I performed as a "Dancing DJ" at weddings, bar mitzvahs and corporate parties with a well known ongoing Chicago troupe in which we would put on full shows, do impersonations, and utilize audience participation.

I became friends with Jim Martin, an actor from the movie "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey" and the lead guitar player for platinum selling 90s rock group Faith No More, backstage at a festival we were playing together. TOur collaborations were my first break on to the Grammy Awards ballot.

Now, I'm lucky enough to be the first Indian-American to be inducted into the Latin Grammys.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Anand Bhatt

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Fun! It's the music you listen to when you want to have a good time.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = I learned how to play the violin formally as a kid, it taught me the music theory required to be comfortable with exploring other musical avenues.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = I have a team of producers that work with me. They're all talented and I'm grateful for their efforts!

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = That's a toss up between Pirbull and Daft Punk. I say that, but in reality my friends would probably tell you it's Prince ;)

08 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = Ask yourself often if this is REALLY what you want to do. Once you start down the rabbit hole of the entertainment industry, you may not be able to get out so easily. You'll want to make sure that this is something you absolutely can't live without quitting, else you're better off going to med school ;).

09 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? =

http://www.facebook.com/anandbhattrock

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0080304/

http://anandbhattpress.blogspot.com

10 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = It would be with Prince at the Superbowl. Or if I can use my imagination - somewhere in space broadcasting to other lifeforms.

11 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = The Latin Grammys were pretty amazing. I got to pull up in a Lamborghini and walk in with Usher, listen to cheering crowds, and do a lot of tv interviews one after the other. Not to mention see Shakira and Paulina Rubio up close :). It was quite a rush.

12 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = I am on an unplugged (acoustic) tour coming through your city right now. If you don't want to leave the house you can also catch the show on StageIt.com May 8th, 2012 6PM PST and various showtimes and days at http://www.sonicwaveintl.com/anandlive

I also started endorsing ONE coconut water, and you can hear the new Coconut Water song right now at http://www.sonicwaveintl.com/coconutwater

13 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = On that spacestation with Prince.

01 - Artist Name & Location = Lost In Atlantis Phoenix, Arizona

02 - How did the project come into existence? = Lizzie (Vocalist/Keyboardist) and Eric (Guitarist/Porgrammer) decided to join forces in 2008 and started creating Lil Evil Alien Bunny music. They've recently released their debut album "Silent World" and music video called "TEK NO".

Music Video: http://youtu.be/_b1MOtL7mQM

Purchase music: www.lostinatlantis.bigcartel.com

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? =

Lizzie: Vocalist/Synth

Eric: Guitarist/Progammer

Tim" Bassest

David: Drummer

Eric and Tim are both brothers (The Pinedo Bros). They're been playing music for a couple years drawing their inspirations from other acts like Incubus, Muse and Lady Gaga.

Lizzie grew up in New York City (Queens) and went to a professional performing arts high school, while signed to record label in Manhattan. Her parents decided to relocate to Arizona, where Lizzie soon found her niche (Rock music).

David Allen, an MI Graduate, just recently joined the L.I.A crew adding his charismatic personality and awesome drumbeats into the mix.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Rocktonica! Best of both worlds!

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Lizzie had previous extensive vocal training in Manhattan with a couple well-known vocal professors.

David is a gradaute from MI (Musicla Institute in Hollywood, CA) where he's mastered the craft and art of drumming.

Eric is self thought with a couple training lessons on guitar and piano.

Tim pinedo is self thought with a couple guitar lessons.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = We have a producer by the name of Tom Whitting and are in search of colaborating with other producers too.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = The biggest influence on our bands sound would be Muse and Lady Gaga.

08 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = DON'T DO IT unless you are EXTREMELY passionate and dedicated. It's the hardest business to get yourself into. Money is not what we are striving for, it's the passion and fans that drives us to keep playing music. This sounds so cliche, however, music is within our blood. It's what we crave and breathe for. Without this craving and drive we wouldn't be able to make it in such a competative field.

09 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = Just visit: www.facebook.com/LostinAtlantis

10 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Anywhere that would book us! Most venues are pay-to-play! Bands need to stop accepting these horrible venues that are charging so much money and not taking care of their artists. Anywhere that would book us would be AWESOME!

11 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = Recently went on a Spring 2012 Tour (Epic Proporations Tour) w/ Gabe Kubanda and Thomas King. A 5 week tour on a bus that ran on vegatable oil with 11 other people (total) was a true and greatful experience. We perceeded to run into many obstacles but that didn't stop us. Unfortunantly, the tour ended short when a Semi-truck struck us and made our bus flip over 4 times. The end of tour came to a close but we formed one of the strongest family for life. Bonded by music, friendship and life.

12 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = Finalists for the Ford: Gimme the Gig 2

Viewing of the competition will be held on KTLA TV

Other shows:

Relay For Life 04/28 @ Peoria Sports Complex (10:30pm)

13 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Traveling around the world spreading as much Lil Evil Alien Bunny music as possible!!!

01 - Artist Name & Location =Suns of Orpheus - Austin

02 - How did the project come into existence? = On the summer of 2011, Austin-based brazilian writer Frederico7 handpicked a crew of youthful, talented and seasoned musicians to embark on a musical vision of 'International Psychedelic Pop' sounds. Thus, Suns of Orpheus was born; influenced by Funk, Reggae and World-Beat music of the early 70's, the band smudges barriers of languages and styles while exuding singular energy and charisma on their live shows.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Frederico Geib - VOX, Nylon String Guitar

Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Frederico7 is the catalyst of the group as the vision for the group's sound and imagery grows further with everyone else's input. Frederico has led latin supergroup Ghandaia and currently also works with brazilian funk/soul group 'Os Alquimistas'.

Alan Uribe - Bass

Alán is a great producer and visionary as well as a terrific bass player. Currently he is very excited to be working with Suns of Orpheus.

Mike Longoria - Drums

Mike is a virtuoso and one of the most dynamic drummers present in the Austin music scene. His craft is superb and his taste is exquisite. H has performed and travelled the world with dozens of great musicians.

Jussara Nagle - Vocals

From Bahia, Brazil, Jussara adds spice, haunting vocals and a passion for tropicalia. An accomplished fire dancer as well, Jussara studies audio engineering and applies all of her passion and knowledge with Suns of Orpheus.

Brandan Uribe - Synth

Brandán is a very prolific musician with a high taste level and a passion for beats and synths. He also formed the backbone of Sub-Oslo with his brother Alán and now they collaborate together once more while exploring the dimensions of Brazilian Worldbeat.

Greg Jones - Electric Guitar

Greg is a respected guitarrist and composer in the Austin community who has played in many influential WorldBeat projects to come out of the US. He was one of the leaders of Ghandaia and Los Bad Apples, and is currently very engaged in Suns of Orpheus.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = nfluenced by Funk, Reggae and World-Beat music of the early 70's, the band smudges barriers of languages and styles while exuding singular energy and charisma on their live shows.

Pop Psychedelic Internationale! Suns of Orpheus are seasoned performers melding WorldBeat, Rock and Psychedelic sounds through powerful songs written in three languages. A highly charismatic group with universal appeal..

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = All musicians in the band have had musical education in one way or another. Greg, Alán and Brandán all studied at UNT, which has a respected jazz program. Jussara is currently studying audio engineering and has had formal vocal training. Mike has been a prodigy from a very young age and has been in the constant presence of musical teachers. Frederico has a music minor from Southwestern University and also teaches songwriting and composition at an Arts School in Austin.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = We are working with a few guest producers and co-producing ourselves as well, Craig Sadler and Tony Arias are fantastic producers and engineers who have been instrumental in 5 of our tracks. We have another number of creations that are currently being produced by us.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = The biggest influences are not always other musicians. We look for inspiration in visual arts, philosophy, the natural world, the hard work of common folk. Obviously, each member of the band carries with them their own 'musical dna' but it is safe to say that it all is quite groove oriented, lyrical and universal. Psychedelic music, Worldbeat music, Funk Music... it all plays a part.

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = Like us on fbook or tweeter and visit:

www.sonicbids.com/sunsoforpheus

www.reverbnation.com/sunsoforpheus

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = We would love to play with Erykah Badu at Copacabana Beach in Río de Janeiro, Brazil.

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = While the band is quite new, we have played very solid shows. We did co-bill shows with two different and amazing emerging women artists from the new wave of Brazilian music: Luisa da Mata and Tita Lima. Tita even had us be her band during the most recent SXSW festival. We have been getting solid radio play in our region and recently got nominated among the Top 10 best new bands of 2011 by the Austin Chronicle during SXSW. That was a great accomplishment for a Worldbeat group based in Texas.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = Sure. Suns of Orpheus will be releasing the full Album this Summer. The band will tour CA, TX, NM, LA, OK and Mexico City. Any fans who would like to have us in the area should get in touch with us and contact local stations.

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Travelling to play selected festivals, constantly putting out new recordings, creative ideas and solutions.

01 - Artist Name & Location = Pocket of Lollipops, Miami Fl

02 - How did the project come into existence? = Buy Accident. the drummer of the band, my husband was asked to create sounds for a gallery. more like atmosphere and he asked if I his wife could join him. at the time I had been playing the bass for a short period of time. but i joined him. since then we kept be asking to do stuff for galleries. threw time the songs evolved and we starting adding lyrics and now we have 3 albums with all original music.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it?

Tony Kapel- drummer, vocals, sounds

Maitejosune Urrechaga- bass and vocals

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Avant punk performance with a compelling, dissonant and limitless sensation to stimulate various compression and transverse physical properties to produce an intensity of No Wave stylings. They appear to play intuitively, with distinctive personalities that nonetheless draw from a single source.

things other people have said:

I never thought we needed another husband-and-wife duo until I heard the strange, compelling, dissonant music of Pocket of Lollipops. This Miami duo fell into music after excelling at the other arts: Maite Urrechaga is a visual artist and Tony Kapel is a writer and filmmaker. The music they make together channels the energy, spontaneity and antiestablishment ethos of the New York No Wave movement of the early ‘80s – many of whose band members also dabbled in other art forms – creating an exciting antidote to the increasing sameness of so much indie rock today. -John Thomason, BocaMag

Pocket of Lollipops paints a picture of saccharine harmony -Abel Folgar, Miami New Times

the coolly bizarro, No Wave stylings of Pocket of Lollipops- Omar Sommereyns, Flavorpill

the visually stunning, wildly entertaining duo POCKET OF LOLLIPOPS-Digital Love, Revolution

This quirky couple packs a punch of talents. From filming art documentaries to playing their musical duet, Maite and tony are not just song birds, they are also scene-makers sharing their own brand of artschmaltz all over town. -Oliver Sanchez, Swampspace Gallery.

Whatever your preference, music and art pretty much always go well together, and sometimes great artists make great music. That is the case with husband and wife team Tony Kapel and Maitejosune Urrechaga make both art and beautiful music together. -Liz Tracy, NBC Miami

While the band rehearsed for the performance, the musicians appeared to play intuitively, with distinctive personalities that nonetheless drew from a single source. - Colleen Dougher, City Link

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Tony has been playing drums for over 20 years and been in and out of several bands up till 3 years ago when his wife picked up the bass and started to write songs. Maite, the wife has been playing the bass non stop for the past 3 years.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = no, we are DIY

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = making noise, the youth today, the future, spaceships, cats, weird animals, miami, and cuddling

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = www.pocketoflollipops.com

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = modest mouse. the one band i can listen to all the time even if i have heard it a million times. if i am ever stuck on something i put them on and they seem to fix my flow..- maite

would love to play in pompeii- tony

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = We love meeting new people, and traveling and making music.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = Artopia 2012 on March 8 for the Miami New Times, Releasing our 3 album titled Broken Balloons, and 2 new music videos

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Still making music and art

Bobby Cool Interview @ The Indie Band Channel

01 - Artist Name & Location = Bobby Cool - Nashville,TN

02 - How did the project come into existence? = I had been in Nashville for about 2 years, and was working at a recording studio at the time. The only thing that I had out was a four song demo of some of the first songs that I wrote, and I didn't have anything that I could take around to shows. George Clinton, the owner of Bayou Recording, at the time, cut me a great deal on recording and my dad was gracious enough to front the money, since I am a broke musician. We recorded it over the course of about a week, then had it packaged and pressed, and I had the final product about three weeks after we first started.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Right now I've got a group of guys that I play with a good bit, but don't necessarily have a set band.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = It's country. At least, that's what I tell people it is. And really, I hope it's traditional country. I had a lot of influences growing up like James Taylor, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Bruce Hornsby, Michael Jackson and a lot of others that my parents would listen to. So there are definitely a lot of different styles that I'm sure play out in my music from time to time but, at the core, I think it's traditional country.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = None really. I took 8 years of piano lessons and never got very good because I just wasn't that into it. When I started playing guitar, I just taught myself, but I absolutely fell in love with it. Compared to the big dogs, I'm still not very good, but I can get by.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = Yes. I've got a buddy who is starting to break into the business, so I am excited to work with him on the next project.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = By far, my biggest influence as a songwriter is James Taylor. I just love the way he paints a story and the melodies he uses to dress em up.

For country, it's got to be Garth Brooks. Garth's the man.

08 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = I would try to surround yourself with people that really enjoy what you're doing, and support them as well. It is great to have a group that you can lean on for encouragement when things don't seem to be going so well.

09 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = The best place to go is the website at www.bobbycoolmusic.com. From there you can also go to my facebook, twitter, and other social media sites.

10 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Australia. I've never been, but I hear that country music is huge there. And I really want to swim with Great Whites. In a cage, of course.

11 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = I got to meet George Jones and Tanya Tucker when they came into the recording studio. That was awesome.

12 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = We'll be playing a show at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA on January 17th, and at Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ in Charleston, SC on January 18th, details are at bobbycoolmusic.com/shows. If you can make it out, we'd love to see you.

13 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = I really hope to do an all 50 states tour. If I could do that in the next 5 years, I'd be happy.

If their parents didn't have babies then LIA wouldn't be here! LIA was then formed when Liz (lead vocalist and Synth player) joined forces with Eric (Guitarist). They united and started writing EPIC extraterrestrial Alien Bunny Music. LIA has also formed their own genre of music within the local and nation scene called Rocktronica.

04 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Elisabetha Rosnowski: Lead Vocalist and Synth Player

Eric Pinedo: Guitarist

Tim Pinedo: Bass Guitar

05 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Rock-tronica, Alternative/Rock/Pop music with synth and Epic Dance beats :]

06 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Elisabeth has had piano lessons and vocal lessons.

Eric and Tim are self taught musicians with some guitar training here and there.

07 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = Yes, we currently have a variety of 35 plus songs in the works for our new full length album. Our producer will be Tom Whiting from TallCat Productions (he's also session drummed on our debut album SILENT WORLD).

08 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = Full Band influences might include: Muse, Lady Gaga, Incubus, Finch, No Doubt

09 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = Perseverance is the key. You need to stick your head up high and never give up. The world is constantly testing you.

10 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? =

www.facebook.com/LostinAtlantis

www.youtube.com/LostinAtlantisband

www.purevolume.com/LostinAtlantis

11 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Anywhere=Japan With=Muse/Lady Gaga/Madonna/Incubus

12 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = Sharing the stage with so many different bands and constantly meeting and making new fans. Our fans aren't just fans, they're our friends :] We call our fans Lil Evil Alien Bunnies because they're apart of the LIA family.

13 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = Our new music video for TEK NO will be released in December of 2011.
The Shadow Committee Interview @ the Indie Band Channel

01 - Artist Name & Location = The Shadow Committee, Norwich UK.

02 - How did the project come into existence? = I was playing for another band in late 2009 and decided that I wanted to record some of my old stuff without vocals. I started with Sunshine Paradise (the title track of my current mini-album) which was arranged completely differently from before and went from there.

After I left my previous band, I started focusing on The Shadow Committee full time last year, recording and promoting a few small releases.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = So far it has been just me, Josh, recording although I have played this stuff live with other people. I currently have two other people I work with on a semi-regular basis - Dan, who plays drums and bass; and Rob who plays bass. We are all in different cities though so it's not often we manage to get together.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Instrumental Rock. I often see instrumental bands being pegged into 'post-rock' or 'maths', and as I don't really see my music in either of those labels, I've stuck with basic terms.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = I'm currently studying for a degree in music at the University of East Anglia. Dan has previously studied at DrumTech, a contemporary music college.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = I have been self-producing the work since it's creation. I would love to bring other people into the process, but it tends to be costly so I have avoided it so far.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = Radiohead and Muse certainly, their music has been a big factor in my music making since I was introduced to them four years ago (or so). But right now, the vibrant instrumental (and genres around it) scene that there is in pockets across Britain - bands like 65daysofstatic, And So I Watch You From Afar, Talons, Tall Ships...

08 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = Recording studio's are expensive for the unprepared. I learnt that the expensive way.

09 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = You can listen to things on Soundcloud, http://www.soundcloud.com/theshadowcommittee

You can buy things on Bandcamp,

http://theshadowcommittee.bandcamp.com

You can read more at http://www.theshadowcommittee.net

10 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = One of the big festival stages would be something else. I played a small festival (8,000ish) towards the end of the bill once and it is an experience I would love to be able to do again.

11 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = Played some great venues, and supported some excellent bands including people who have become a core part of my music taste such as Grammatics and We Were Promised Jetpacks. But playing sold-out gigs have always been good experiences.

12 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = I have a mini-album out on 11th April on cassette/digital download (http://theshadowcommittee.bandcamp.com/album/sunshine-paradise )

And a single launch weekend over the Easter weekend, where 'Radio' will be available, for weekend only, free via a virtual Easter egg hunt. More details will be posted on http://www.theshadowcommittee.net on Good Friday.

13 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Wherever the music takes me. I learnt not to be too bothered about the overall plan a few years ago, as long as I stay task-orientated and achieve the little things at the right time.

Diva Gash Interview @ The Indie Band Channel

Artist Name & Location – Diva Gash

*How did the project come into existence?

Diva Gash was created in 1997 by Marco Camacho and myself: Camilo Ferrer in pursue of an universal sound and an universal name, we really wanted to differ from all the Colombian musical movement, which is an easy formula every musician, in Colombia, tries to pursue but in our opinion, most of these come from an opportunistic response to the "industry's necessity".

At the beginning we started experimenting with New Wave, Punk and Brit Pop elements which led us to an "Indie Sound".

...As most musicians we started in a small room that pretended to be a studio which ended in an album.

*Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it?

At the present Javier Pabon and myself are the owners of the project. I invited Javier to become a part of the band in the beginning of 2000, and he has been in the band ever since. We hire musicians depending on the type of show we have to deliver.

*How would you describe your sound/genre?

310 319 0750 Beto

We like to call our sound: Music. We don't like to limit ourselves music wise which is expected from a Colombian musician. Don't take me wrong we're very much proud of being Colombian but is not the tag we carry.

DG has its own sound with lots of elements that come mainly from rock and dance music, but still, we take pride on taking ideas from Bossanova, punk, reggae and old school soul and funk. I guess we have a Diva Gash seal, since we listen to so much music and have managed to experiment lots of things as well as playing with musicians from all over the globe we've developed a Diva Gash sound which is very particular and maybe indescribable.

*What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have?

Javier had several attempts in universities as a parent requirement. At first his parents made him study Industrial Design, and then after insisting in wanting to be a musician he was required to at least go to a reputed university, but soon he knew this wasn't the type of music career he wanted to pursue. It actually took him a while to convince his parents to study in the New York Bass Collective which definitely defined him as a Bass Player.

On my side; I graduated from Industrial Engineering also as a family requirement, but took guitar lessons on the side which led me to form the band.

*Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album?

Like a lot of musicians we dream on working with big artists such as: Justin Timberlake, Martin Gore, Beck, Pharrel, Dan the Automator, Damon Albern, Rick Rubin, Foo Foghters but it isn't just that easy unfortunately.

We also would like to work with Alejandro Rosso from band Plastilina Mosh who we worked with for our second album...But haven't made a decision yet. At te moment we're in the process of pre producing our next album.

*Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music?

Many artists have been part of our life, and our learning process which end up influencing the music I guess. We are fond of Prince, Depeche Mode, Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Daft Punk, The Meters, Sly and the Family Stones, Michael Jackson, Ohio Players, Misfits, Metallica, Beastie Boys and projects like Death from Above and MSTRKRFT, Friendly Fires among thousands of artists we listen to. But we're not only influenced by music, life in general inspire us, art, movies, photography, fashion, etc.

*What advice would you give to others starting out?

First of all, you have to have a special amount of patience, I'm not lying. Having a band is a long road, and the best thing we can recommend is to try to have fun during every step of the process. Nowadays you cant just make music and wander between the recording studio, the stage and the rehearsals, unfortunately...There's lots of other things you are obliged to do in order to go on the road, there's a little bit of everything but it has it’s own magic, so try to enjoy it!

And second, don’t ever let fame get to you. Always be a down to earth person because it might not last forever and reality might hit you in the face. Addictions are a focus taker so try to be conservative with that too.

*Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music?

They can find us almost anywhere: www.divagash.com , http://www.youtube.com/user/DivaGashColombia , www.reverbnation.com/divagash , www.myspace.com/divagash, www.facebook.com/divagash, www.twitter@divagash, www.soundcloud.com/divagash, sonic bids, etc…

*If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with?

We love festivals, so just playing at festivals is a dream of it's own. We dream about playing at Coachella (for example), at Glastonbury, Bonaroo, Sonar, Pukkelpop, Austin City Limits, Benicassim, and so on.

We've always wanted to play in Japan which is one of our unfulfilled dreams, and if done at a festival with Gorillaz, Foo Fighters and Beck, much perfect, haha!

*What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole?

One of our greatest experiences ever was to be chosen to play at the Festi’val de Marne on 2009 in Paris, the experience it self was amazing but also the fact that we were hand picked during our Rock al Parque performance (which was, by the way, the most accident-ed show ever) in Bogota and the very fact that the programmer saw all of what happened, and actually picked us because of how we resolved our issues was incredible. It was one of the greatest pleasures ever.

*Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about?

But of course…Our newest record will be out in the second semester of 2012, which promises to be very danceable.

We're also part of the soundtrack of El Cartel de los Sapos, which is a Colombian movie that will be released in September, so along with that we'll release one of the songs called: White Russian.

We're also working in the pre production of a documentary.

*Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years?

Playing at festivals around the world, touring with a big name and producing other bands on our well equipped studio in the coolest city in the world.

01 - Artist Name & Location = ATHANATOR

02 - How did the project come into existence? = The band began in 1989 in our native Medellin performing on small home parties and common halls on the neighboorhood

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Jamz, is our lead guitar and lead vocal. He founded the band with your high school friends when our city had a chaos and a terror war between drugs cartels.

Eder Zapata, lead guitar from 9 years ago and a important man to put spice and band´s music as well on lyrics and words.

Kike Ramirez, bass player from 1999 and share the lyrics wit Jamz from the first albums.

Esteban Tobon, our newest member from 2 years ago that play drums with great skill and enthusiasm.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Basically, Athanator is a thrash metal band in vein of old school bands like Metallica, Sepultura, Kreator, Anthrax or Exodus.

But Athanator has something difference: we put some modern touches with latin energy in our tunes. sounds strange.....No?

Taste it!

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Well, Jamz split the band between 1993 and 1999 a was in a Grunge/Alternative band called Marimonda. But, on their veins only run metal blood from the beginning.

Eder coming from a punk band called Estigma. a band that get a big sucess here in our country in the 90´s.

Kike is coming from another punk band called Spider and on the early days he worked for a heavy rock band called Ekymhosis famous here for the former Juanes lead singer, now a profit and big rockstar around the world.

Esteban was descovered for Eder during a small show in a bar in Envigado a near city performing for a grung and nu-metal band that split after him left the band.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = Yes, in the past our last albums were produced by Jose Uribe and proffessional and classic guitar player with a big experience in metal music because he was another Ekymhosis member during Juanes era.

Now, for our next CD, Rogers Masson (Marilyn Mason,Judas Priest) has our music ready to be out.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = Uuufff!

Many, many bands from our style: Slayer, Metallica and Kreator I though.

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = In our website: www.athanator.ne t or through our Management and label imprint: www.lixosd.com

In USA you get our music through CD Baby.com and Cathedral Music Group for Europe.

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = We like to share stage with friends. Friends that like to perform music and not rockstars that see us on their shoulders like a piece of shit in middle of the farm.

Many bands or artists forget that they ate scrabs before to get an stardom.

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = Many during last years. But our last biggest success was last summer during "Rock al Parque" festival, performing on a big stage with many bands like Overkill and Destruction in front of 100.000 fans.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = Yes, ATHANATOR has a South American tour beginning on 15th June, visiting Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Brasil and Colombia of course.

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Performing in many festivals maybe is a target that any band loves. But ATHANATOR wants is to be in contact with our fans, talk wth them face to face, share experiences. We use social networks like usual but is amazing shake the hands with the people that see our shows or buy our music.

Lachi and Meridian Gold @ The Indie Band Channel

01- Band: Lachi and Meridian Gold - New York City

02 - How did the project come into existence? = It began with the formation of the atomic nucleus and evolved into an intellect soothed by the harmonious energies of melodic vibration that I'd developed around the age of four. Upon picking up an affinity for songwriting and piano-ing, I packed up and moved to NYC from UNCH Chapel Hill to study music at NYU and peruse a solo singer/songwriter career. Just as an atomic nucleus is held stable by electrons, or just as cells quickly learned that sustainability is heightened by clumping together to form multi-cellular organisms, I quickly expanded my efforts in the formation of a band formed around my nucleic songwriting.

Desperately wanting to get messages out that go beyond the mainstream "my boyfriend cheated," "I am rich and you are not," or "girl fight!" yet still hit the mainstream market, the band has chosen to go the direction of taboo messages of acceptance and inner forgiveness gift-wrapped in commercial pop and rock melodies and riffs.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it?

Lachi - Singer/songwriter

Keys, guitar

Jaime - Bass, Backing vocals

Micah - Violin

Eddie - Drums

Rico - Guitar

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = Soul influenced pop rock is what I tell those who can't help but put things into boxes and color in lines. Some like to often throw in the word "positive," "femme fronted," "indie" and "poetic." All of these I affirm as well.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = I took a smemster of voice lessons in college. Micah the violin studied violin in school, but other than that I believe we're all selve taught. I don't necessarily have more respoect for those that are self-taught than those who aren't, as those who are formally triained learn one thing that is very difficult to attain on your own...discipline.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = I do most of the producing on my albums, yet we do work with some very talented engineers!

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, older No Doubt, The Beatles, Bjork, some Police, some Avril, Yanni, Mozart, Ella Fitzgerald

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music?

Find tour dates and music at:

www.lachimusic.com

www.facebook.com/lachimusic

www.twitter.com/ulachi

www.youtube.com/ulachi

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = I've been wanting to play in Japan. I'd want to open for Radiohead as well as Bjork.

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = Our mid-atlantic tour of 2011 was an existential experience, mainly because it went so amazingly well!

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = We are currently working on our next album to be released spring 2012. We will also be performing a host of shows from now until then, so please check out www.lachimusic.com for updates!

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = In my own office which encompasses a music studio. In that studio I will be writing songs non-stop as my full-time day job. In that office my secretary will forward me the schedule of the day which by the power of a high-level booking agent, an on-point manager and a very savy publicist is filled to the brim with the events I must tend to, the phoners, the performances etc.

I would love internationally touring, hearing my music in block-buster hits...but what I really want is that knowledge of success and accomplishment, and I'd feel that the most in my aformentioned scenario.

01 - Artist Name & Location = Nick Driver, Raleigh NC

02 - How did the project come into existence? = I was playing in loads of hard rock bands throughout the past 10 years...and I basically got to a point where I looked in the mirror and wanted a change. I was doing a band called Skywire with some of my good friends, and one of them moved to DC with his girlfriend-and it just seemed like the time was right for us to all do different projects. They were getting into different bands that I didn't realyl dig, and I was getting into bands and writers that they didn't dig. I believe it turned out for the better for everyone involved. I love acoustic music and was getting a little tired of the harder edge music and wanted a change. so my solo Nick Driver records were born in March of 2010 with Warm Is Your Color. Sirius XM Radio picked up my song LETS STAY TOGETHER shortly after and gave me a great boost.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it?

NICK DRIVER BAND IS:

Nick Driver-Vocals, writer, guitars

Elijah Ott-percussion, acoustic guitar

Darren Abbacchi-drums and bongos

Billy Hinnant-bass

Elijah is from New York, he played in a bunch of bands up there. And Darren contacted me online...and we ended up jamming and we do so many shows as a duo its ridiculous. Billy is my first cousin and played in several Raleigh NC hard rock hardcore bands throughout the years. The whole band came from a harder background to play this acoustic driven music we make...which blows my mind...but it works.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = We are kinda like if Bob Marley sat down and wrote some songs with Jeff Buckley and Van Morrison. We dig a lot of the old stuff. We like music that's modern...but for us-it's more about the quality of the song rather than the auto tune generation that's going on right now...no offense to T-Pain and everything on commercial radio on Clear Channel. ;) We love doing live stuff...its where we excel in my opinion.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = I trained classical guitar and vocals in college, and learned to play rock guitar on my own. My drummer took some drum lessons earlier in his career but for the most part everyone just sat down and loved their instrument enough to figure it out.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = Yes. Jamie King. He's awesome. He'll take your instrument and school you on it. He's the only guy I've ever recorded with that is seriously amazing at what he does. I can't even explain

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = I'd say life in general. As far as what bands: Dispatch, Van Morrison, Jeff Buckley, Johnny Cash, Oasis, we listen to everything.

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? =

www.nickdrivermusic.com and www.facebook.com/nickdriverband

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = I'd play with Jack Johnson and G Love in Hawaii. Def.

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = We were flown out to Monterey CA to play for Apple computers last year. That was ridiculous...they put us up in this 5 star Forbes Hotel and Spa and it was overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He could go out at night and hear the seals barking and they were so amazing.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = All tour dates are at nickdrivermusic.com...come to all of them. I have recently launched a record label called Earth Love Music Label where I'll be releasing my next record along with a few more bands as well. (earthlovemusiclabel.com)

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Just still playing music.... being happy...living a good life...and doing everything I can to keep releasing music for people. I wanna be alive too :)

Cai.ro interview @ the Indie Band Channel

01 - Artist Name & Location = Cai.ro, Toronto Ontario Canada

02 - How did the project come into existence? = Cai.ro came about through former solo artist “Nate Daniels”. He is joined by fellow artists, Matt Sullivan (drums/percussion), Caitlin Grieve (violins/backing vocals), Dante Berardi.Jr (guitars/backing vocals). Everyone is on the same level and works in a symbiotic relationship to create the sound that is “Cai.ro”. All members of the project were found through months and months of Nate searching the craigslist list world. He posted adds, met some weird and interesting people, and eventually found the 3 other core members of what now has become Cai.ro.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? =

Nate Daniels - Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar

Matt Sullivan - Drums, Percussion

Caitlin Geive - Violin, Backup Vocals

Dante Berardi Jr - Guitar, Back Up Vocals.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = It's sort of a soundtrack to any given circumstance in your life. Dramatic and sometimes anthemic, while other times withdrawn and simplistic. The music mirrors the ups and downs we all face.

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Nate is self taught, Dante is self taught, Caitlin is classical trained on violin and piano, Matt is mainly self taught with some lessons here and there along the way.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = We are currently in the market to find the right producer for our next major release. Our critically acclaimed "Young Love EP" was self written and self produced, and recorded with an up and coming Toronto studio wizard Andrew Lauzon.

For our next release we want to find the perfect fit for our sound and our personalities to create something that is us through and through, yet relatable for the listener.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = Because the members have such a variety of tastes its hard to say specific bands that are directly responsible for our sound. However, bands like Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Patrick Watson, Jeff Buckley, and Bon Iver are just some of the act all the members agree has some influence on the sound of Cai.ro

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = Our website is:

www.wearecairo.com

From there you can find links to twitter, facebook, itunes, and youtube. As well as hear our album for free and flip through our extensive press list.

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Anywhere in the world would be Reading Festival or Sasquatch Festival.

With anyone would be Radiohead

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = As a whole the most exciting thing that has happened to us recently was Alan Cross (Canadian Music Industry God) gave us an unsolicited push and like on his site and his twitter. He is someone we have all grown up listening to and admiring so for him to find us, then take the time to put it out there that he "likes" us was huge.

Also, our numerous festival shows over the last year and a half have been great experiences as well.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = We are playing a Canadian Music Week showcase on March 23rd at 8pm. It is in Toronto Ontario and is at the Rancho Relaxo on College St.

Besides that we will be Audioblood Medias (http://www.audiobloodmedia.com/) April Coffee Shop Project Featured Artist.

Lastly we will be playing Dave Bookman's Nu Music Night at the Horeshoe Tavern in Toronto on April 3rd.

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = We hope to have a self sustaining project with or without the help of a label. We hope to be in the position to make Cai.ro records and tour as a band for a living. Also we would love to branch out and help other up and coming projects reach their goals.

James Scott Fant Interview @ The Indie Band Channel

01 - Artist Name & Location = James Scott Fant

02 - How did the project come into existence? = I didn't write or play for several years. I went through a tough, heartbreaking divorce and was trying to recover from that. Then when my daughter died in 2008, I turned to music to search for some sort of comfort from the pain of that loss. I've written songs and played most of my life but other responsibilities had taken priority so it had been a year or two since I'd had time to work on songwriting.

I picked up my guitar and the songs I began to write after she died were without a doubt the most personal and autobiographical I'd ever written. A lot of the lyrics were dark and a lot of the themes were complex. I suppose I used music and wrote these songs as some sort of therapy.

As a songwriter, I've always tended to write in concept, as a collection, and by the time I'd finished this collection of songs, I had 12 or 13 songs I considered complete - at least complete enough to think about recording - so I started to get a few gigs and take the songs out of their enviroment and let other people hear the stories they had to tell. I think thats important, to take a song out into the world and perform them live. It's the final step in the process of songwriting, to put a song in motion and let people hear them live and breathe through the performer.

I mentioned the darkness and complexity of some of the lyrics, but I noticed as I began to finish this collection, I had let the songs begin to evolve into stories of hope. I can't even start to describe here what a dark and unhappy time that was in my life, so I was glad that I'd found some sort of light, that when things get bad, find your glimmer of hope and always move toward it.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Just me, my Martin 000 or my Gibson J45.

04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = There are so many monikers for this style of music now (ha) Americana, roots music...I use elements of country, delta blues, early rock n roll...

05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = I've played music many years, no formal training. Mostly self taught, just always paid close attention to the musicians and songwriters around me as I was growing up to try and learn the craft.

06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = This was a long process, writing, editing and getting to the final recorded versions of the songs on the EP. My wife, Sandra Manseill, ended up producing the project. It was painful sometimes, fun sometimes and sometimes just hard work. Sandra and I co-wrote one song "Annie Sings the Blues" and that was a new experience for me. I had never written with another writer. We've written a couple of other songs since and our writing style is very informal. We bounce words, lines or ideas off each other and just let the song become what its gonna be.

When I began rehearsing and preparing to record, I would try different versions, different tempos, maybe different ambience with some of these songs and she would give me honest opnions about what worked and what didn't. She spent a lot of time helping me interpret these songs and we finally realized she was producing the project. The finished product sounds very simple really, voice and guitar, but getting there took some time and I think my patience and her drive to get these songs to the place they needed to be paid off. There were times I was willing to call a song finished and she would push me a bit to work on a lyric or experiment with a melody. I'd never had that much personal input and it was at times unnerving but ultimately always appreciated.

07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = At this time in music we're all so fortunate to have so many great influences, the great artists who came before us that we can use for inspiration. My grandmother used to sing to us when we were kids and she sang those old dark and beautiful Appalachian folk songs and murder ballads. That has been a big influence on my style.

I began to hear the songs of Texas writers like Guy Clark, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt and those guys were a big influence. Tom Waits, Lightnin' Hopkins...those are a few major influences. The list is endless!

08 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = I'm not the best Facebooker, but I try to put a few updates and list where I'll be performing. Here's some links:

www.facebook.com/scottfantmusic

www.sonicbids.com/jamesfant2

If people like what they hear, I hope they'll support me by hitting the 'LIKE' button on my Facebook page.

09 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Wow, that's tough. I want to go to the Appalachian mountains and play (or mostly listen) with those musicians that live there and make that great real country music. I'd like to hang out in Memphis and sit in with some of the rhythm and blues players there. Somewhere in East Texas or Mississippi - or wherever - there have to be some wonderful country blues artists that I'd love to sit down with and play a few tunes and learn from. Another list that could be endless...

10 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = As a performing songwriter, that moment when you connect with another person, whether it's on your CD or during a live performance. I believe music was originally intended and continues to be a way we communicate. When I write a song, perform for people and someone "gets it", thats the payoff.

11 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = This EP "Pig Iron" is a 5 song collection and is the first release in a trilogy. The room where I write, rehearse and record we call the Blue Room so "Pig Iron" is 'the Blue Room Sessions 1' I've spoken with my wife Sandra and we've decided to sell the copies of "Pig Iron" for 5 dollars and 1 dollar from each EP sale we're going to give to a place here the Dallas area that assists women and their kids put their lives back together after escaping abusive relationships. Sandra has a personal connection with this organization and heartbreaking and joyous at the same time to see these people recover from some really bad situations. I hope we can help this way. I'll post more about this on my Facebook page as we progress and get ready to formally release the EP.

12 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = Just to continue to move forward. I have no rock star aspirations and to this point have had no real finacial success with music. I just want to tell these stories, connect with people with my music and if any success should ever come, I will accept it with the grace and dignity it deserves. Thank you very much for the interview and taking the time to let me tell you about the new EP.

Andrew Dahl-Bredine Interview @ The Indie Band Channel

01 - Artist Name & Location = Andrew Dahl-Bredine

02 - How did the project come into existence? = This music came into existence as a result of many varied musical and life experiences. I started traveling the world in 2000, and became interested in traditional music in Spain, then Brazil, India, and eventually Africa. After playing world music in bands for years, I began to refine a unique style of solo songwriter music incorporating lyrics that related to my life. My experiences traveling the world, then living primitively in the woods, and then raising a family, provided me with a wide range of lyrical and poetic substance with which to work. I paired that with a unique style of playing the guitar that subtly weaves different world music styles with folk and singer-songwriter traditions.

03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Andrew Dahl-Bredine.
