01 - Artist Name & Location = The Audible Dark - New York, NY
02 - How did the project come into existence? = The Audible Dark was founded in 2010 under rather un-rock-and-roll circumstances. As a kid, I dreamed of 'being a singer'. Then I woke up one morning and discovered I was a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom of two. It smacked me in the face! If I didn't chase my dream—and do it now—tomorrow I'd be an old lady wondering what if. I started writing and practicing every spare minute. I remember sitting on the kitchen floor during naptime, playing electric guitar through headphones so I wouldn't wake the kids up!
I went to my good friend Anthony “Rocky” Gallo, a producer/engineer whose credits include John Legend and Carrie Underwood, and he helped me create our first EP. Rocky brought in Pat McCarthy to lay down a sweet bass line on the record, which was released on November 1, 2010. When we began to play live shows, Pat called on drummer Chris Infusino to bring the groove, and Chris later brought Sergio Ortega on board to layer in his tasty guitar work.
03 - Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? = Stephanie Logan – vocals/guitar
Pat McCarthy – bass
Chris Infusino – drums
Sergio Ortega – guitar
04 - How would you describe your sound/genre? = At its heart, The Audible Dark is honest, anthemic rock, with deeply felt, universal sentiments. The hard driving rhythms combine with instantly memorable melodies to stick with you long after the first listen.
05 - What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? = Sergio's a Berklee grad, Chris studied at Roosevelt University's School of Music, and I have a music technology degree from University of Rochester. All three of the guys are full-time professional musicians and play with some amazing singer/songwriters and bands in New York City.
06 - Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? = We're presently wrapping up 6 new tracks with Anthony “Rocky” Gallo in his new Virtue and Vice Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
07 - Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? = There's a huge variety of influences on our sound, from Dashboard Confessional to Paramore to My Chemical Romance. It's a little Pink meets Foo Fighters.
08 - What advice would you give to others starting out? = Go after it! Nobody else can make you chase your dream. It doesn't have to be music or art, but find what drives you and never give it up. Don't listen to the excuses that say you don't have time or money or fill-in-the-blank. If I can find a way to chase the dream, with a 2-year-old and a newborn, I guarantee you can too.
09 - Where can people go to learn more about you and hear your music? = Our website is www.theaudibledark.com. We're also really active on www.Facebook.com/theaudibledark. A free download is available at www.theaudibledark.bandcamp.com
10 - If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? = Madison Square Garden! With My Chemical Romance or Foo Fighters.
11 - What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? = It's such an incredible moment each time someone shares with me how our music has touched them or inspired them in some way. That's really what I want most for this band – that people would be moved and affected by the music. And if we have an awesome time together along the way, that's just bonus!
12 - Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? = “Die Trying”, the first single off our new album, will be coming out in January! The record will probably be released in March.
13 - Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? = In five years, I hope The Audible Dark has a strong local and regional following, that we're continuing to stretch ourselves to create great music, and that we're better and better able to touch peoples lives.
